A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov headed for the 42nd session of the UN Committee of the UN World Heritage Manama (Bahrain). On the agenda was the question of excluding the Historical Center of Shakhrisabz from the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The head of the delegation of Uzbekistan in his speech noted that the work carried out in the Historical Center of Shakhrisabz was aimed at improving the living standards of the local population. Members of the Committee also got acquainted with the adopted decision of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Protection of World Heritage Sites in Uzbekistan", which lists the "Roadmap" indicating the timing of implementation of the recommendations of the World Heritage Committee.

During the stormy discussion, the members of the Committee addressed a number of questions to the head of the Uzbek delegation. It should be noted that the answers sounded in essence and clearly identified the position of Uzbekistan. The active debate between the members of the KVN led to the creation of a working group for the development of an alternative draft decision of the World Heritage Committee providing for the preservation of the Historical Center of Shakhrisabz on the UNESCO List of Heritage.
